Homemade Ginger Stevia Ale

Do you enjoy the refreshing taste of ginger-ale but hate to consume all those calories or subject your body to harmful artificial sweeteners ever wonder about all the other artificial ingredients in commercial soda-pop... Stevia ginger-ale to the rescue, all natural, refreshing, and next to no calories. Real ginger offers the benefits of being naturally soothing to the stomach and digestive system as well as being a super anti-inflammatory, benefiting those with sore muscles and arthritis. Stevia is a natural plant who's leaves contain glycosides 300x sweeter than sugar! No calories and no carbs! Natural vanilla in addition to tasting wonderful is a good source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. The only hard thing about this recipe is keeping it in the fridge...our advice, make a double batch!

Stevia Ginger Ale Recipe

Makes one 8-ounce serving:

3 ounces ginger syrup (see below)

5 ounces sparkling mineral water

ice cubes

Pour the syrup into a 10-ounce glass and add the ice cubes.

Slowly add the sparkling water. Stir and serve.
Homemade Ginger Syrup:

This stevia ginger syrup can be made and stored for quite some time to always have handy when you'd like to whip up a glass of stevia ginger ale (above).

Yield: approx. 4 cups

4 cups water

4-or 5-inch piece fresh ginger

1/2 teaspoon HerbCare stevia supreme concentrate

2 tablespoons vanilla flavoring

1 tablespoon lemon extract

Peel and finely chop the ginger

Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the ginger and stevia, reduce the heat to low, and simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes.

Strain the liquid into a heatproof container, and stir in the vanilla and lemon

Covered and refrigerated, this syrup will keep for a week or so.
